Fold-Gluing Systems for Web Offset Presses

The new system generation COMBIJET 9NET was developed among others for installation into news paper presses. Perfectly integrated, user-friendly and efficiently the optimized OPIMATIC system helps save time and costs. With the modular structure up to 5 folders can be equipped with maximum 64 applicator heads. COMBIJET 9NET provides an efficient communication with the press control desks via Ethernet. So, all product-related functions can be called up from the press control desk via a transparent system operation and process control. The automatic tank switch-over of the adhesive canisters (2 x 30 kg) or a container connection (650 kg, 1,000 kg) ensure a non-stop production. In addition, the integrated remote diagnosis function INTERMODUS provides the operators with online start help, online instructions, online error tracing, online trouble-shooting and download of software updates. Furthermore, PLANATOL produces fold-glues which are perfectly matched to the requirements concerned and which, due to their formulation, are very economic in consumption. The adhesive is smoothly applied from smallest applicator nozzles with openings as from 0.3 mm by means of which an optimum glued binding can be obtained.

Fast Communication - User-friendly Visualisation

The new system COMBIJET 9NET offers the latest control and visualization technology. The newly developed field bus system on Ethernet basis, which is capable of real-time use, makes it possible that all tasks of calculation, control, visualization and operation can as of immediately be carried out by a single central CPU in the system cabinet. The real-time capability ensures that the applicator heads can quickly be activated within µ-seconds. Furthermore, the visualization has completely been integrated into the control thus offering the operator a wider and improved operating concept together with a facilitated and more convenient use. The CPU also includes the operating data logging. So, from now on, material consumption and costs involved can be assigned to each job and orders for material supply can automatically be released. The CPU also includes the clear alarm and alarm history administration. All types and as many languages as possible can be integrated. In addition further statistics such as recording of operating hours and working cycles of the applicator heads can be created and evaluated. By means of USB sticks authorized persons only will have access to the user administration of the system. More standard features which are programmed are a detailed operator’s manual, relevant help functions and communication protocols for the data exchange with the press control desk.

Convenient Operating Concept

The system is operated via a 15“-touch screen which can be located at different places. All functions for the control of the applicator heads at the cross bars can be activated either fully automatically - via the presetting program - or manually. This facilitates the adjustment of the applicator heads with visual inspection on site. A completely new feature is a modern manual control element with LC display which can be connected to any of the cross-bars installed. It allows controlling all applicator heads from one operating element only. All settings and functions which are carried out with this device will be transmitted to the master processor.

The Art of Gluing

The new system COMBIJET 9NET for fold-gluing and fold-softening offers a number of advantages for the customer. Apart from additional evaluations and statistics there is most of all the simple operation via touch screen and the transparent guidance through the menu. The easier and catchier the operation, the lower is the error rate. The „Art of Gluing in the Fold“, which has always been supported by PLANATOL, is easier now thanks to the new system.
